Caused by viewing a digital screen for an extended period of time, computer vision syndrome (CVS) involves acute and chronic eye discomfort and strain. The angles and viewing distances of screens differ from traditional writing and reading activities, and require unique eye movements and focusing techniques. The eye must continually focus and refocus, as it shifts from screen to the keyboard or paper documents, requiring significant effort from the eye muscles.
